Whew! This was a tough one!
After a great premiere at Oregon Children’s Theatre we wanted to get this play out into the world – the author of the graphic novel (Matt Phelan) wanted it, the band who wrote the music (Black Prairie) wanted it, Dramatic Publishing wanted it, I wanted it, a number of schools were asking for it… but various legal problems and weird swamps of silence kept bogging us down.
FOR NINE YEARS.
But finally, finally, after all that patience and never giving up (and the steady work of Leah Hamos and Linda Habjan)…
The play sees the licensing light of day.
It’s a truly American fable about courage in the face of environmental disaster, and rising to be seen when the world wants to ignore you.
I hope it has a long vital life.
